Emotional Voyeur

Often he could hear them
Shouting at each other,
Never knowing if their cries
Were real or ready-made.

Inwardly he pictured
Their faces and their figures,
Contorted by emotions
He gathered secondhand.

Alone he ruminated
On the cause of such confusion;
Could it be their only solace
Was in trading accusations?
