Field of Reeds
Travelling canals in splendid boats,
Protected from the crocodiles and snakes,
Royal houses followed earthly habits
In their afterlife.
Feasts were held on fertile isles,
With beer and bread and honeyed treats.
Dancers and musicians
Rounded out the scene.
O lucky one who lived and reigned
Four thousand years ago,
You knew what lay in store for you
When death released your soul.
