Like Riding a Bike

Something to feel, other than urgency,
Would foster my belief in life—

A life in the aggregate, turning slowly
Through the phases of birth and death
And the all-important interim.

Each revolution without is mirrored
By countless turnings within.

We would do well to find the sense
Of stillness at the centre of the wheel.
The ride is smoother there,
And the view is more complete.
