Many Live on Payments Less Grand
Money in the hand intoxicates some
Who plunge into a vat of saturation,
Glad to go on buying rounds of drink
Until the evening teeters on the brink
Of total dissolution.
Many live on payments less grand
Than the salaries conceived to be required
For the stars of sport and screen.
They have the knack of living hand to mouth,
And do not perish when the times turn lean.
Others know not from where it came
Or when it will come back again.
They simply spend it while they can
And let the morning after go without...
