Martian Zoological Gardens
We've lifted to Mars a carousel ride—
Calliope notes float over the desert tide.
A slow-moving sightseeing train
Rolls on fat tires across the terrain.
Shocking flamingoes and pink cotton candy
Echo the colors of soil that is sandy.
We carved our park into island parcels,
Surrounded by winding silver canals.
Barges ply their way between the sands,
Making their way to Monkey Island.
Chattering simians greet our guests,
Breathing the thin air of Martian jests.
We were the first to leave the Earth,
Bringing to Mars our human mirth.
