Potato Soup

If I speak to the ingredients of my meal,
Will they, in fact, speak back to me?

Will the parsley and potatoes
Take a moment to proclaim their innocence?

Will the salt and pepper try to say
That they were framed?

If they do, I'm prepared
To meet them with a counter-argument.

Actions, they say, speak louder than words;
I'll simply eat the evidence.
