Samba

Would you prefer a samba
To a sombre melody?

Do your passing years portray
A way of life that lingers
Over understated pleasures?

Are you able to absent yourself
From the clutches of the moment?

Say yes, and so digress
From what the church and state
Would delegate to you.

We needn't always be
         Like autumn leaves
Swept along a swollen river,
         Pell-mell to perdition.

He gives us ample time
         To know His mind,
         If only we are willing.
