Streetgazing

The morning drive to work
Affords us time to exercise our inclination
For sidewalk studies, dipping into strangers' faces
To get a glimpse of character, likeable or not.

Everyone's walk reveals a sense of self.
Clothes present an outer image,
While features show a lifetime's sum of attitudes.

Together these elements create a state of being—
Abject or benign, floundering or purposeful,
Sauntering or broken by the wheel of modern life.
