There were other dresses
Before today, I'm sure,
But none that fit you in the same way.
This dress makes it plain
You are the culmination of a strain
That reaches back to Eve and to the Garden.
What modern day Adam
Could resist the temptation you present?
Along with the fitting of the dress
To your particular shape,
It's only fitting that this occasion
Should bring to mind
A premonition of your advancement
To the league of womankind.
Go then, and wear it well.
Time alone will tell
What battlements may fall at your advance.
