Before the Beginning

Before the beginning
In a land of ten innings
Lived a kindly red pepperish lion.

His teeth were quite sore
From having to snore
Whenever he dozed for a minute.

Good luck for him,
He had a nice friend
Who brought him a green and blue carrot.

This carrot was such
That it could cure much
Of whatever might be the matter.

So, boiled on a platter
He had it for dinner
And grew ever thinner, not fatter.

From that moment on
The pain was all gone
And his teeth promptly ceased to chatter.
