By Candlelight
pour Minou
At night when everything is calm
And all the world conspires
To lay a healing balm
On daylight's raging fires
You speak to me in steady voice
Of things I know at heart,
Reminding me I should rejoice
In life and love and art.
Before the candle has burned down
Our marriage we renew;
You in your unaffected gown,
Me in my awe of you.
