The cricket is diminutive,
A small dark creature of the ground
Possessing an entrancing sound.
Although he's small, he still can give
Abundantly to those who find
His music soothing to the mind.
He sings for love, to find a mate.
Once found, he sings a courting song
In lower notes that linger long.
Incredibly, his cricket date
Has ears below her knees which hear
The notes of her intended dear.
On summer nights, when work is done,
The choir sings for the setting sun.
They rub their wings in harmony,
Instilling mass tranquillity.
