The Dark Pool and the Bright Stars

Envy is a large, dark pool
We must edge around with caution.

It lays directly on our path
To happiness and humour,
Family and friendship,
Achievement and appreciation.

No one knows the source of those dark waters,
Or why some cannot find their way around.

Trust is not so blind;
It shields us from
The perils of the pool.

We put our trust in several stars,
Depending on our house of birth
And what our constitution craves.

Every corner of the world
Has raised a sage or star-crossed saint;
Each is like a local beacon.

Stars may vary in their brightness
While providing equal guidance.
