Hour by Hour

Nothing could be more right
Than to be at home
Alone together in bed,
Talking and trading our feelings.

We have an easy way of being
Separate, yet not apart.
One heart beats in the next room,
The product of our mingling.

Friendships of our own,
And those we share,
Round out our circle
Of social give-and-take.

In all, we make a nucleus
Complete and self-sustaining.
