Laura the Nut

Laura was an ordinary specimen
Of the arguing kind.

She woke up each morning on the wrong side of life
And went to bed in a snit.

That was the sum of it;
Or so we thought, until one day
When she displayed
A most unlikely charity.

To what could we attribute it?

Simply this:
The hardest nut will crack
When sufficient pressure
Is applied.

For many years, we tried
But it took a higher power
And a stronger hand than ours
To convince her of the worth
Inherent in her fellow man.
