Meant for More

pour Minou

You may ask me how I know
We are meant for more than graves.
Something tells me that it's so,
     Something spoken by the waves.

If you count your life in years
It will fail to measure up.
Share your laughter and your tears,
Lift to me your loving cup.

When we look at where we are,
     Sheltered by a cypress tree,
Guided by a northern star,
Who could hope to be so free?
