To greet the day with bright accord
Is lately my express desire,
Renewed each night when I retire.
What attitude might best afford
An early morning reverie
Conducive to a state of glee?
Or if not glee, then cheer galore.
A strong beginning is sublime
And only deepens over time.
Perhaps our animals know more
Than we do, when it comes to how
To best live in the here and now.
I notice dogs will never fail
To match their mood to wagging tail;
I contemplate the cat serene
Who follows her own calm routine.
