Regarding Our Demise
Regarding our demise, we are quite certain
That the tulip trees will flower in the spring.
We assume there will be smiles exchanged
Between complete and utter strangers.
Instinct says the presence of wild creatures
Within our city limits will continue.
With all of this and more assured,
We are prepared to someday step offstage.
Our sole request is that it be a long-deferred
Event, arriving on an unknown day...
